dynamic assemblages and three-dimensional narratives intertwine

DIFFCULT WHOLES

Personal Art Project [2022]

Inspired by Robert Venturi's notion of the 'difficult whole' in architecture, this project delves into the exploration of part-to-whole relationships, creating assemblages that defy mere aggregation. Venturi's insight into gestalt psychology serves as the guiding philosophy, emphasizing the complex interplay of elements in relationships that are perceptually inconsistent yet collectively compelling.

Drawing initial figures from Piranesi's Campo Marzio, the assemblages take shape through physics simulation, where three to four figures are meticulously arranged to evoke tension, connection, and three-dimensional richness. The composition considers not only the physical connections between figures but also the negative space that becomes as vital as the figures themselves.
